Taska Barlow has performed from Alaska to Nebraska and Nevada to Nashville. Her music career began in the Pacific Northwest, where she worked as a single act playing guitar before putting bands together and touring. Songwriter Workshops in Nashville, headlining the Alaska SE State Fair, performing on Norwegian Cruise Lines and many Nevada cabarets have fond memories for Taska, but are never more important than each new audience at every performance.

Clifford “Mudcat” Smith

Drum set, Hand drums, Harmonica, Vocals, Guitar and Keyboards. Cliff's mastery of many instruments is the result of a lifetime of dedication to the art including a formal education in Music Therapy at USU.  He entertains audiences playing Drums and Harmonica simultaneously while moving from Blues, Rock, Top 40, Show Tunes, Country, Swing, and Jazz to Latin. Cliff's radio and television sessions have found him in NYC, Fairbanks, AK, Seattle, WA and the San Francisco Bay area to name a few.  He has toured extensively in concert and Nevada circuits and opened for nationally known acts including Greg Allman, Elvin Bishop, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dan Hicks, John Kay And Steppenwolf, Tony Carey, The Association, Don Lee, Buck Trent, Freddy Fender, Ed Bruce, The Wray Bros. with Collin Raye and  Con Hunley. Cliff's music magic is now wowing listeners and dancers everywhere the Outlaws perform. In 2012 the band name was shortened to "Taska."

Alberto Pomar

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keys, Drums & Vocals. This world-class guitar player began playing music in the Philippines, before traveling the globe, sharing his amazing guitar styling and ‘lightening speed licks’ with music fans everywhere. Albert worked with the best Top 40 cover bands in California before moving to the Pacific NW. It is here that he headlined in the 70’s and 80’s with “Vanilla Manila.” He teamed with ‘The Outlaws’ in 2010, bringing his amazing music mastery in all styles of music to audiences everywhere they perform!

John Savage

John joined us in 2016, and is perfect for this variety dance band:  Jazz, Blues, Doo-op, Rock & Roll, Country, Latin, Top 40 and originals.  John Savage does it all!

He has been performing and teaching on the West Coast for over 40 years. At the Anacortes Jazz Festival in 2007, Clarence Acox, Jr., Director of the Seattle Jazz Philharmonic, proclaimed John to be, “The real deal.”

A musical powerhouse, John originally taught himself upright bass, electric bass and piano. He later studied at Oregon State University and with such greats as Herb Ellis, Howard Roberts, Tal Farlow, and Jamie Finley of The Guitar Institute. He is also a singer and prolific songwriter and has extensive experience in studio recording.

John taught at Skagit Valley College for 21 years, before returning to Oregon in 2015. He teaches guitar, piano, bass (electric and acoustic) and voice and has just joined the teaching faculty at the Northwest School of Music of Salem.

During his tenure at Skagit Valley College, John worked with jazz choirs, individual artists and directed Jazz Big Bands. He enjoys public speaking and has taught numerous workshops and group-focused events. In addition, he has been the musical director and performed in the pit for several theater productions in the NW, and coached praise team musicians.

On the West Coast, John has performed with many prestigious musicians in a variety of venues including The Jim Cutler Jazz Orchestra, John Hodgkins, Robert Cray, Chuck Berry, Tom Anastasio, John Anderson, Trish Hatley, Louise Rose and Josh Cook.

In the 1970’s he performed in LA’s Watts District at The Pioneer Club, owned by Smokey Wilson, who happened to be BB King’s cousin. Many of Smokey’s prestigious clientele frequented his place for the BBQ recipe he was famous for, and wound up sharing some songs before leaving. Therefore John has backed up Etta James, Buddy Guy, Co Co Taylor, Otis Rush, Jr., Luther Alison, Jr. Wells—and of course, Smokey Wilson, to name a few!   Because Professor John Savage’s musical history includes a Doo-op band, Surf Music, Classic Rock, Western Swing (and Smokey Wilson’s BBQ!), he cannot be classified as a ‘jazz snob’ – but a class-act, capable of playing any style of music and with excellence!
